I bought the learner's permit exam but it won't let me take it

FLORIDA EXCLUSIVE: This applies to anyone who is attempting to take the Florida Learner's Permit Exam.

It says "Web Test Station" when I try to start the test.

It says "Exam type requested is not allowed by ADLTS" when I try to start the test.

If you have an "Exam type requested is not allowed by ADLTS" error, please contact us so that we can issue a refund. This error means that you are NOT ELIGIBLE to take the exam online.
Most Common Reason - You already took the exam somewhere else:
  1. Passed the exam a year ago (or longer): Your test is no longer valid. You will need to take it again at the DMV until you pass.
  2. Passed the exam online, but failed the random retest at the DMV office: You must take the test at the DMV until you pass.
  3. Passed the learner's permit exam within the last year: You can't re-take the test since it is already marked as successful in the state system.
  4. Taken the exam a total of three times (in person or online): You must take the test in person at the DMV for any future attempts.
Not sure if you've taken the exam before? If you took a Driver's Ed Class at your high school or through Florida Virtual School, you've likely already taken the exam at least one time. It might've been a while ago!

Other Reasons:
  1. 18 or older: If you are 18 or over, the State of Florida doesn't allow you to take the test online. You must take the test in person at the DMV.
  2. Missed too much school: You are between 14 ½ - 17 years old and have 15 unexcused school absences in 90 days. In this case, you will not be able to take the learner’s permit test or get your learner’s permit until you attend school for 30 days in a row with no unexcused absences or turn 18 and your school attendance office completes a License Reinstatement Form and sends it to the FLHSMV in Tallahassee.

I'm getting a different error when I try to start the test.

There are several instances where the State of Florida does not allow you to take the learner’s permit exam.

Example Reasons:
  1. Duplicate DMV records: Occasionally, the DMV will have duplicate records for the same person. When this happens, there will be an error verifying your eligibility to take the learner's permit exam. In this case, the State will need to merge your records before you can take the test.
  2. Incorrect information: Your information (Name/Date of Birth/Last 5 of SSN) doesn’t match what is in the State of Florida system.
(See: Can I change my name, birthday or SSN on my Florida Learner's Permit Exam?)
If none of the situations in this article seem to apply, and you believe there could be a DMV record error or incorrect information that doesn't match in the state system, please contact us so that we can have the state investigate the issue.
