I got a letter saying that my license was going to be suspended
FLORIDA EXCLUSIVE: This applies to someone who took the Florida Basic Driver Improvement Course and received a letter from the FLHSMV stating that their license will be suspended because they did not complete their traffic school requirements.
If you received a letter from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles stating that your license is about to be suspended:
- Log into your account, click "view" next to "My Certificates", then click the blue "Download Certificate" button to save and print your Certificate of Completion. Look at the date listed on the Certificate and make sure that you completed the form before the deadline that you were provided by the DMV
OR
- Click here to check the FLHSMV records to make sure they received your traffic school completion.
This will show you the record on the Florida DMV website, so if it's there, you're in the clear! - AND check the status of your license to make sure it's valid.
If you didn't meet your deadline
Contact the DMV to explain your situation to prevent the suspension.
If you met your deadline
You're all set. The FLHSMV often prepares and sends out letters before the deadline passes, so if you were completing your traffic school course shortly before the deadline, you likely just received an outdated letter. But to be safe, we suggest that you call the DMV to make sure everything is taken care of.
