Where can I find a driving school for behind the wheel practice?

OHIO EXCLUSIVE: This is meant to help Ohio students find a driving school so that they can get additional behind the wheel training. 

Summary of the Ohio State Requirements

Ohio Abbreviated Adult Course
Adults who failed their road test or maneuverability test at the BMV are required to complete the Ohio Abbreviated Adult Course and behind-the-wheel practice before taking the test again.
  1. 4 hours of driving practice with a licensed driving instructor at a local driving school OR 24 hours of driving practice with any licensed driver 21 or older. 
Ohio Teen Driver's Ed
Teens are required to take the Ohio 24 Hour Teen Driver's Ed Course and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel practice with a licensed driving instructor from a driving school in your area.
  1. 8 hours of driving practice with a licensed driving instructor at a local driving school
  2. AND 50 hours of driving with my parent or guardian
Important Notes:
  1. You must be at least 15 years and 5 months in order to take the Driver’s Ed Course.
  2. At 15 years and 6 months, you can get a temporary permit from the BMV.
  3. You will get a Certificate of Enrollment after you spend 2 hours in the Driver’s Ed Course. You need to give that to the instructor at your driving school before you can start any behind-the-wheel training.
  4. You will get a Certificate of Completion once you complete the course. You will need to give that to the instructor before they will certify that you’ve met the state requirements for your permit.
  5. To show proof of 50 hours of driving with a parent or guardian, you will need the Fifty Hour Affidavit. You can go here to download and out the affidavit.
